  1. Publicly funded Australian researchers
  2. Publicly funded international researchers
  3. Commercially funded projects

Phenotyping Service Fee

We provide individual, itemised quotes for each project, tailored to the different services and infrastructure requirements for each customer. Costing examples for a phenotyping project are outlined below.

Project example:
A research group wishes to compare the response of their 10 frequently used parental wheat lines to two different treatments (e.g. this could be control and high salinity, control and drought, low and high nitrogen, or control and chemically treated plant).

The group chooses 10 lines x 2 treatments x 5 replicates = 100 plants.

The plants are grown in a greenhouse for two weeks for seedling establishment in control conditions. On day 15, the plants are transferred into the Smarthouse of The Plant Accelerator where they are grown for a further four weeks. During this time, the treatment regime is applied and the plants are imaged three times per week. In this example, the plants are destroyed after the last image has been taken.

Within four weeks following the experiment, the Accelerator Team processes the raw measurement data and provides the information below to the customer.

Our pricing includes:

  • Consultation on experimental design and horticultural advice
  • Consumables (e.g. pots, soil, barcodes, pest control, water, electricity, gas)
  • Routine processing of raw measurement data, e.g. image algorithm design, leaf colour, biomass increase, relative and absolute growth rates, water use efficiency, stress response.
  • Access to our secure online web portal where graphs, raw data and individual images can be accessed and filtered.

The intellectual property and all data from the experiment is owned by the customer.
